Melbourne's Anniversary
Outer Circle Trail is a well developed eighteen-kilometre walking
and cycling route along an abandoned railway corridor from Fairfield
to East Malvern.
The trail has
a sealed surface and is suitable for wheelchairs and all types
of bikes. History boards along the route tell will keep you
informed of the railway's early days.
A delightful
way to travel north/south through Melbourne's leafy eastern suburbs.
Minimal contact with traffic at traffic lights.
Connect to the
trail by either suburban train lines: Fairfield Station or East
Malvern. Better
still, combine your walk or ride with the Yarra River Trail (38km) – not
a rail trail (but almost as easy). The Yarra River Trail follows
the river from near its mouth through the city and suburbs to Westerfolds
Park and Eltham.
